First published in Sunlight and Shadows poetry anthology 1995 as Denise Howson
Water flows,
Humans grow, work and die.
Famine,
Disease,
Nuclear War.
Oil flows,
Birds sing, take flight,
Never to return,
Wings covered.
Pus flows,
Trees scream, their skin peels,
Silver hands hang from their arms
They weep.
Earth lies dying.
