Amakhosi Theatre Arts’ most successful production, Stitsha, which went on the international scene for two decade years ago,is set to make a comeback, with Bulawayo based production company, Qhube Productions, which was holding auditions for actors. Sihlangu Dlodlo, director of Qhube Productions, told ngiyesabanews source that he approached Cont Mhlanga, who wrote the play, for rights to the reproduction and was given a go-ahead. It will be staged at Amakhosi. Dlodlo said he attached a lot of importance to the play. “I believe it is one of the greatest plays in Africa. It might even top the list. It put Amakhosi on the world map,” he said. Also Dlodlo said the reason he decided to do the play was because it was a way to celebrate classic local plays. “I decided to do the play because of nostalgic reasons. I get jealous when I see people doing Macbeth and other Shakespearean plays, while shunning our own classic productions. “As Zimbabweans we should celebrate our own classic acts," said Dlodlo.
